route #10: Memphis, Tennessee to Chicago, Illinois
Mississippi River is the natural border between Tennessee and Arkansas. We crossed the trussed “Old Bridge” of Memphis and took I-55 going North through Arkansas. At least the sky was changing every fifteen minutes and the frequent rain-showers were some kind of amusement… After Sikeston we took I-57 and continued driving north…

Lincoln Park is a beautiful area in North Chicago with old brownstone row buildings, high end boutiques, chain stores and shady alleys which survived the big fire in 1871. It is also one of the safest neighborhoods in Chicago. We confidently parked our Beaver van on West Armitage Avenue, few blocks from the Armitage elevated train station…

The city where the first steel-framed high-rise building was built in 1885, only 50 years after its foundation, the city of Al Capone’s bloody gang wars and Tribune publishing, the “city of winds”, the city by the Great Lake. Chicago’s First Lady cruises offers a 90′ Architecture Boat Tour. We departed early morning right below Michigan Avenue and sailed along the rivers between the majestic volumes of the city’s skyscrapers shoving off Lake Michigan “where the Water meets the Sky”…
